What does a typical day look like?

Most mornings start with a surf session, some have Yoga/Kalaripayattu
Relaxed breakfast/brunch with the group. In some cases we might have Dinners instead of breakfast. Check the detailed Itinerary.
Afternoons include rest time, time to explore or curated activities mentioned in the detailed itinerary
Evenings are for unwinding. Every day flows with the tide and the energy of the group
Each retreat has one family dinner for everyone to chill together

What is the group size?

We keep the groups small - 12 to 16 participants - so we can ensure a great time for all participants.

Question 5

Is there an age limit for the retreats?

Accepted Answer

We welcome all adults between 21 and 45 years of age. While we would love to have people of all ages surf, it's difficult for us to logistically manage the same.

Are men and women both allowed?

Accepted Answer

Yes - unless a retreat is specifically marked All Girls. We try to maintain a gender ratio of 50:50 for our mixed gender retreats to keep it inclusive and fun for all participants. In some cases we have more women than me in the Mixed retreats.

Can I join solo?

Accepted Answer

Yes, since this is a group retreat, you will meet many new people and possibly make new friends.
We have special All Girls retreats for women and our mixed gender retreats also maintain a 50-50 gender ratio so the retreats are inclusive and fun for all participants.

Can I choose the dates for the retreat?

Since this is a curated group surf retreat, you cannot choose any other dates or duration.

Question 9

Can I choose only surfing/stay/other activities?

Accepted Answer

No, the retreat is a complete package consisting of the stay, surf lessons, select meals and curated activities as mentioned in the itinerary. It is a curated experience, and hence not possible to customise.

Is single occupancy available?

Accepted Answer

Some of our retreats have a single occupancy option available at an additional cost. This will be specified in the detailed itinerary. You can buy it as an add on during the checkout process on the website.

Are the retreats beginner friendly?

Absolutely!
All our retreats are designed for complete beginners (Unless the Surf Retreats explicitly says that it's for intermediates). Most of our participants are first-time surfers - your instructors will guide you through every step.

Question 12

Do I need to know how to swim?

Accepted Answer

We surf in shallow water - waist/knee deep, so swimming is not mandatory. But we strongly recommend being comfortable in the water. 
We have limited non-swimmer slots for every retreat (Max of 3-4 people), check with us for the availability before booking your slot.

Question 13

Is there a body weight restriction for surfing?

Accepted Answer

There is no weight restriction for surfing. If you can comfortably manage your weight and have basic level of fitness, you can surf. Let us know if you’re unsure and we can help you explore surfing in a safe and enjoyable way

What level of physical fitness is required?

Accepted Answer

Basic fitness is enough.
If you can walk, jog lightly, and do light physical activity, you can surf. That being said, surfing is a physically demanding activity, so you will enjoy it more if you are fit.

Can I surf if I’m on my period?

Accepted Answer

You can surf on your period - your flow naturally slows down in water so you can surf even without any menstrual products. But many women prefer using tampons or menstrual cups while surfing.

Can I surf if I wear glasses?

Accepted Answer

We recommend switching to contact lenses while surfing. Glasses can fall off easily in waves. If your prescription is mild and you feel safe, instructors can guide you on what would work the best.

Can we join as a group?

Since this is a curated group trip, and we want all participants to have a good time, we can only accommodate small groups of 3 or less. For larger groups, speak to us about curating a separate trip.

Can I work remotely while I’m at the retreat?

Accepted Answer

There is some down time in the itinerary after breakfast to chill and relax, so it is possible to work for a few hours but we wouldn’t recommend it. You might not be able to fully enjoy the experience.

Is surfing safe?

Accepted Answer

Yes - surfing is safe when done with experienced instructors and in beginner-friendly conditions. If you have any existing medical conditions that might affect you, please check with your doctor before signing up.
We only surf with certified surf schools, maintain small instructor-to-student ratios, and surf in safe, monitored zones.

What should I pack?

We’ll send a packing list before the retreat, but essentials include:
Swimwear, sunscreen, towel, comfortable clothing, personal medication, a reusable bottle, and an open mind!

What’s the cancellation policy?

Accepted Answer

Since spots are limited, all bookings are final and non-refundable. However, you can transfer your spot to a friend if you’re unable to make it - just inform us in advance.
