🌊 Treading Water Workshop (Deep water workshop) - Get Comfortable in Deep Water If you know how to swim but still feel nervous in deep water - this one’s for you. For anyone who wants to get comfortable with deep water - where your feet can't touch the ground. Beneficial for people who want to surf, scuba dive, freedive, snorkel or just want to jump into the ocean. Mandatory to know how to swim. This workshop will not focus on how to swim. A guided 1.5-hour workshop in collaboration with expert instructors from Nisha Millet Swimming Academy, designed to help swimmers build confidence in deeper pools (and oceans). You’ll learn multiple techniques to stay afloat, both vertically and horizontally, with a focus on conserving energy and staying calm when you can’t touch the floor. Based on how you're progressing, we'll also include a few gentle underwater drills to help you get truly comfortable below the surface. Theory (30 min) - Introductions and expectation setting - Understanding why we panic in the deep water - Introduction to Treading and techniques that will be covered in the pool session - Ocean Awareness: Guide to navigating the ocean - managing waves, currents, rip currents in the open water Pool Session (1 hr) in a 7 feet deep pool - Getting comfortable in the deep water - kicking and moving around with pool noodles - Learning to stay relaxed and floating in the deep water - Introduction to treading techniques: Doggy Paddling, Sculling, Egg Beater Kicking - Vertical jumps in the pool to emulate jumping into deep water to raise comfort in deep water 📍 Location: BCU Basecamp by Push Sports, Bengaluru City University, Palace Road (https://maps.app.goo.gl/Ta86vAv9Ca22tHSu5) 🎯 For swimmers only (you must already know how to swim atleast freestyle) This is not a swimming class - it's about learning to trust yourself in deep water and knowing what to do when you're out of your depth (literally). Perfect if you: – Panic when you can’t touch the floor – Want to surf or dive but fear open water – Just want to feel stronger and more relaxed in deep ends Please note: - The pool is not temperature controlled. - Proper swimming attire along with cap and goggles mandatory. No entry to the pool without this. - Pool timings are fixed, no compensation for latecomers will be provided. - No rescheduling/cancellations possible once booked.

Why the surf retreat with Surf Club India?

Our surf retreats are curated with keeping surf life at the centre of everything. These experiences enhance your surf progress and help you get a glimpse of the local surf life & culture.

Curated experiences

Each activity is curated keeping the surf life in mind. These experiences are offered exclusively for Surf Club India participants. If you're looking for experiential travel, then surf retreats are for you.

A complete local guide to surf town

Get an insider's guide to travel completly curated and vetted by locals. Explore the local eataries where other surfers head to after surf. Best of the cafes and cliff top secret spots. Sunset spots and best of Chai Kadai. Get access to best of local parties.

Beginner friendly

All of our retreats are super beginner-friendly, especially for those who are surfing for the first time. We usually accommodate a few non-swimmer spots too. Our trained and certified instructors will help you catch your waves.

Alcohol & parties

Retreats in itself are intended to slow down, relax and soak in the surf life. It's certainly not "getting drunk in a beach town vibe".  We do organise a dinner/BBQ party on the last night of the surf retreat where everyone can get together and share drinks and dinner.
