This beginner-friendly session is led by SSI certified freediving instructor (Praveen – Underwatermonk) and is designed to help you understand the relationship between breath, body, and water. Freediving is often considered the highest level of comfort in water. At its core, it’s about learning how your body responds underwater, how to stay calm, and how to use your breath efficiently and safely. Through guided exercises on land and in the pool, you’ll build confidence, awareness, and a deeper understanding of how breath and water work together: backed by science. You will get a Try Freediving Certificate (https://www.divessi.com/en/get-certified/freediving/try-freediving) from SSI upon completion of the workshop. What we’ll cover - The science behind breathwork and breath-holding - How the body adapts in water - Breath control techniques to stay calm and relaxed - Static breath-holds: land drills + pool practice - Equalisation basics with a Bouy You don’t need to be a freediver or have prior experience to attend. You do need to be a confident swimmer - we will be at a deep pool (15ft) 📍Location: Game Theory, Ulsoor 🧭 Duration: [3 hours. 1.45 hour pool session, 1 hour land session, 15 mins break) 🎒 What to Bring: Swimwear, towel, water bottle, open mind, light snack (like a toast, smoothie, oats, energy bar) ⚠️ Disclaimer: This is not a freediving course. Why the surf retreat with Surf Club India?

Our surf retreats are curated with keeping surf life at the centre of everything. These experiences enhance your surf progress and help you get a glimpse of the local surf life & culture.

Curated experiences

Each activity is curated keeping the surf life in mind. These experiences are offered exclusively for Surf Club India participants. If you're looking for experiential travel, then surf retreats are for you.

A complete local guide to surf town

Get an insider's guide to travel completly curated and vetted by locals. Explore the local eataries where other surfers head to after surf. Best of the cafes and cliff top secret spots. Sunset spots and best of Chai Kadai. Get access to best of local parties.

Beginner friendly

All of our retreats are super beginner-friendly, especially for those who are surfing for the first time. We usually accommodate a few non-swimmer spots too. Our trained and certified instructors will help you catch your waves.

Alcohol & parties

Retreats in itself are intended to slow down, relax and soak in the surf life. It's certainly not "getting drunk in a beach town vibe".  We do organise a dinner/BBQ party on the last night of the surf retreat where everyone can get together and share drinks and dinner.
